Marriage registration
To marry, file a joint application: easiest via the e-population register if both partners are in the register and have lived in Estonia at least 6 months; otherwise apply in person. The marriage is concluded no earlier than one and no later than six months after applying. The state fee for the marriage entry is 70 euros; a ceremony outside the office carries a municipal surcharge. When applying you must choose the property regime — joint property, set-off of assets increment, or separate property.
Who this applies to
Step by step
File the joint application
In the e-population register or at the office. Choose the wedding time, venue and property regime, and pay the 70-euro fee.
Prepare for the ceremony
The marriage requires both partners present in person. A hall ceremony is covered by the fee; an off-site one (a manor, a beach) adds the municipal charge.
Receive the entry and certificate
The marriage is entered in the population register; the first certificate is free. If your name changes, apply for new identity documents within 30 days.

Frequently asked questions
How much does marrying cost?
The state fee is 70 euros. An off-site ceremony costs extra per the municipal price list; marrying before a notary has no state fee but adds the notary's charge.
Can we marry sooner than a month?
For a valid reason the office may shorten the term — the reason must be documented.
