Child benefit and family allowances
The child benefit is 80 euros a month for the first and second child and 100 euros from the third; it is paid from birth until age 19 (while studying). Families with at least three children also get the large-family allowance: 450 euros a month for 3–6 children and 650 euros for seven or more — added automatically, no separate application needed.
Who this applies to
Step by step
Confirm the state's offer
After the birth registration the Social Insurance Board e-mails an offer with the benefit calculation. Check the data and confirm — payments start automatically.
If needed, apply via eesti.ee
If no offer arrived (e.g. the child was born abroad), apply at eesti.ee under family benefits or contact the Social Insurance Board.
Track the payment day and changes
Benefits are paid for the current month on the 8th. Report changes — e.g. the child leaving school or moving abroad — to avoid clawbacks.
