Parental benefit
The benefit has three parts: the mother's 100 days (up to 70 before birth), the father's 30 days and 475 shared days that parents split freely. It can be planned day by day and used until the child turns 3; the recipient can change monthly. The 2026 cap is 3,806.10 euros a month (twice the average wage), the floor 886 euros. Payment comes on the 8th for the previous month.

Confirm the SKA offer
After the birth registration the Social Insurance Board makes a proactive offer in the self-service with the calculated amount. Check and confirm, or adjust the split.
Plan the days as a family
The shared 475 days belong to both parents — allocate them day by day in the self-service. The recipient changes at month boundaries; payment can pause and resume until the child turns 3.
Working alongside the benefit
From 2026 there is no income ceiling — you may earn alongside the benefit without any reduction.
