Roadworthiness test
In 2026 the test for a passenger car costs about 25–35 EUR depending on the operator and fuel type (prices rose ~10% from July 2026; diesel and LPG carry a surcharge). A retest within 30 days costs 4–18 EUR. Over 120 licensed centres perform it: Transeksta, TÜV NORD, Regitra and others. Driving without a valid test is banned, and from 2026 a valid test is also required to register a sale.

Online via your chosen centre's system (Transeksta, Regitra etc.). The quietest times are Wednesday–Thursday 10:00–13:00 and early in the month.
Prepare the car
Check the lights, brakes, tyres and exhaust emissions — these cause most first-time failures (about 15–20% of cars yearly).
Take the test; retest if needed
Defects are minor (you pass), major (you fail but the old test still holds) or dangerous (driving banned). After fixing them, return within 30 days for the 4–18 EUR retest.
