Vehicle roadworthiness test

The periodic test costs 149 zł for a passenger car and 245 zł for LPG/CNG vehicles — statutory rates in force since 19 September 2025, identical at every inspection station in Poland. You pay upfront and the fee is non-refundable even if the result is negative. A new car is tested for the first time 3 years after first registration, again at 5 years, then annually. Note the new rule: a test done after the deadline costs double.

Who this applies to

Every owner of a vehicle registered in Poland. The next test date is on the station certificate and free to check at historiapojazdu.gov.pl or in the mObywatel app (mPojazd). Driving without a valid test risks a fine and retention of the registration certificate, and after an accident the insurer may reduce the payout if the car's condition contributed. A negative result gives you 14 days to fix the defects and return to the same station for a cheaper re-check (21–55 zł).

Check your test deadline

The date is on the previous certificate and in the free historiapojazdu.gov.pl service (plate number, VIN and first-registration date). Don't wait until the last day — overdue you pay 298 zł instead of 149 zł.

Drive to any inspection station

No appointment is usually needed. Bring the registration certificate. Check lights, fluids, tyres and wipers beforehand — the most common reasons for a fail, and the fee is not refunded.

Get the entry and certificate

The inspector logs the result in CEPiK and issues a certificate with the next test date. After a fail you have 14 days to fix the defects and get a cheaper re-check at the same station.

Common mistakes

Testing late 'because nobody checks' — since 2025 an overdue test costs double, and CEPiK tracks the date to the day.

Returning to a different station after repairs — the cheaper re-check (21–55 zł) applies only at the same SKP and only within 14 days.

Paying 'extra fees' for queues or parking — the price list is statutory; padded bills can be reported to the Road Transport Inspection.
