Registering your residence (meldunek)
Registration is free. Polish and EU/EFTA citizens and their family members have 30 days from moving in; other foreigners — only 4 days (the duty applies to stays over 30 days). Easiest online: the “Zamelduj się” service on gov.pl with a Trusted Profile — if you appear in the property's land register, the system registers you automatically. With permanent registration the certificate is free; a temporary-stay certificate or a repeat copy costs 17 zł.
Who this applies to
Step by step
Prepare the documents
An ID document and — if you're not the owner — the lease or other title proof plus the owner's signature on the form. Non-EU foreigners additionally show proof of legal stay.
Submit the notification
Online at gov.pl with a Trusted Profile: if your data matches the land register, registration is automatic; otherwise the notification goes to the office. In person at the municipality for the new address also works.
Get the certificate
With permanent registration the certificate is issued free automatically. Check your and your child's address via the “Sprawdź swoje dane w rejestrze PESEL” service on gov.pl.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
Registration itself is free. The permanent-residence certificate is free; the temporary one or a repeat copy costs 17 zł.
Can I register online?
Yes — the gov.pl service needs a Trusted Profile. If you're in the land register, it's automatic; a minor child registers along with you.
