Parents choose the duration: until the child is 18 months (60% of the compensable wage) or 24 months (45% in year one, 30% in year two). During each parent's 2 non-transferable months the rate is 78%. The choice cannot be changed later — only the recipient can. The minimum from February 2026 is 592 EUR (8 BSI); the 18-month maximum is 2,898.84 EUR (Q1 2026).

Each parent must use their 2 months (62 calendar days) before the payment period ends; if split into parts, a new application is filed each time. When parents alternate, requests to stop and resume payment are filed with Sodra.
